While I'm on the subject of laughing.... I FINALLY was able to get a video of both my boys laughing at the same time. I love how different their laughs are. Niels laughs more easily and giggly, while it's much more difficult to make Anders laugh -- but when he does, it comes from deep in his chest. I have no doubt I have many, many hours of laughter in my future with these two.....

white trash laughs
So...the past few weeks...er months...have been a bit difficult, especially for my hubby. But when the times get tough, the tough get laughing! I am a big fan of laughter and fun and living life to the fullest in every way that makes you happy. Since the main thing that makes me happy is havin' a good ole time with friends and/or family, I try to make sure I spend as much time as possible with friends and family.
A few years ago I started an annual tradition of having a dress-up party after the holidays and before the spring weather hits -- during the blah winter days that never seem to end. This year the theme was "White Trash". It was not one of the more well attended parties, but man, it was definitely one of the more fun parties I have ever been to. We laughed at each other the entire night -- both at what we were wearing, and at the funny things that were said and done during a game we played. It doesn't even matter what the game was (Partini...in case you're wondering) because it was the humor in the crowd that had us all in stitches -- to the point where we all were saying our faces and stomachs hurt from laughing so hard! Now THAT is the way to cure the winter blues.....at least for an evening.....

This couple kept me laughing so dang hard all night -- for many, many reasons.

I mean c'mon...check out those outfits!! They know white trash!!!!

Playboy bunny cap with ponytail, the confederate flag, "Git 'r Done!!"...and even a real cigarette....and these folks ain't the smokin' type, believe me!

He had a "myself" tattoo he drew on his own arm, she was preggers and had a baby...and brought a tater tot casserole....that there's some white trash!!

See now, what makes so much of this so dang funny is that none of us drink, and yet...you sure wouldn't know it from these pictures!!

All the guys had the dribbled stain down the front...a staple amongst them trashy types.....

OH YEAH! That there is one hot couple.... He sure knows how to rock a pony tail and long johns....

We done got ourselves a family....!!!!
(I especially love Anders' face in this photo)

Cheese curls make fer some real good baby food, ain't dat right?

But nuthin' says white trash like some Easy Cheese 'n Ritz....

An "excellent source of calcium"? Hmmmm..... I ain't sure I'll be serving this with every meal any time soon......

What's not to love about them there lil piggies in blankies? We also had ourselves some pork rinds, kool-aid, chips 'n dip, beef jerky, twinkies.... Don't that all sound yummy?? (No wonder there was so much left over!)

We sure had ourselves a good time. I seriously have not laughed that long and that hard in a very long, long time. There is nothing -- nothing -- better than having some good laughs.
I also have to share my boys' reaction to me when I walked in with my git-up.....

Their initial reaction. Niels was scared and Anders just thought, "Who's that?" and moved on....

Niels never "moved on"....

Niels never once took his eyes off me.

Never.

That's my Niels! He does not miss a beat, lemme tell you.... And Anders just goes with the flow at all times. Their personalities are becoming more distinct every single day. I am having more fun with this boys than a person should be allowed to have. They make me laugh every single day. And what could possibly be better than that?
That's my white trash boy...laughing with food all over his mouth...and everywhere......

forget...and forgive
I really hate forgetting things. And anyone who knows me well, knows I forget a lot of things. My brain just didn't come built with a good memory muscle...er whatever that grey matter is (I forget everything I learned in any science-related class)..... I hate forgetting to write a thank you note, to tell someone I appreciate something they did, to call or email someone to wish them a happy birthday, to return books at the library, to pay someone back, to, well, to do anything forgetful. But no matter how much I hate forgetting, I still forget. Too many things.
Things like a boiling canner on my stove top. Mr. Incredible and I awoke to an explosion at 5:30am this morning. Being Mr. Incredible, he leaped out of bed and ran downstairs (while I sat bleary eyed in my "slow mo" morning stupor). I finally came to my senses and grabbed the phone as I walked downstairs wondering if I needed to call 911 (I thought it was a robber). As I walked downstairs, the fire alarms went off (good to know they work!). I walked into the kitchen to find tomatoes E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E. You name it, there was tomato on it. See...we had spent our Saturday evening canning more tomatoes (yes, more). When it was bedtime for my bonzos, I went upstairs to kiss them goodnight and that was the last I saw of my kitchen for the night. Completely forgetting that I had 7 jars of tomatoes in boiling water on my stove top. TEN HOURS LATER, I remembered....with a little help from the exploding jars.
So, since I've been pretty upset with myself about it all day, I thought I would blog about it because more often than not, horrible experiences like this make for a good story. Although I'm not quite at the "laugh about it" stage -- yet -- I know writing about it might give someone else a laugh. And providing a laugh at my expense is something I'm pretty good at. Remembering things is not something I am good at. I hope you are more forgiving of my forgetfulness than I am.
Oh...and yes, I did can 7 jars of beets before I ruined the tomatoes. I made my first ever batch of pickled beets and, lemme tell you, they are YUMMY!!!! Here are the only pics I took (I forgot to take more...):

best of friends?
My lil doggie hairdresser was at it again.... I came home last night to find JoiVie like this:

I asked Soren what happened and he said Anna Clara had put all those stickers on my poor pup. I have tried all day to get them off and they are almost as bad as the Vaseline -- they will NOT come off! It's been raining all day and JoiVie and the stickers are soaked, but they are still stickin'. Poor lil pup.... Surprisingly enough, she still adores Anna Clara. A true friend!
(side note: Jim was "taking care" of the kidlings while I was out and didn't even notice the stickers until this morning....hmmmm.... I figure as long as they are alive when I come home, he can "take care" of them any way he wants! Thank you Mr. Incredible for always so willingly letting me go out!!)
